Feed Your Soul. Thrive in Joy

Mental wellness, growing from within communities

Who We Are

Strengthening mental wellness in communities

At the heart of Tafara Wellness Initiative’s work is strengthening how mental wellness is understood, supported, and sustained in communities and organisations where it is needed most.

We are a nonprofit company that started in 2024 as a counseling-focused response to the needs of women and children. Through that work, we saw how much depends on continuity, trust, and consistency that comes from within the community.

Our name, Tafara, means joyful. We believe joy can exist even in the midst of pain, with the right tools and a community that supports it. That is what becomes possible when people feel supported and seen.

Building Lasting Change

Equipping communities to support one another

Our primary response is training. We equip community members, teachers, caregivers, youth leaders, faith-based leaders, and volunteers with practical skills to offer peer mental health support within the communities they already serve. Two things anchor how we work:

Our Impact

Our work continues to grow
through training, partnership,
and shared learning.

Our Partners

Who we work with

Tafara Wellness Initiative works with organisations and institutions across Africa that are committed to the wellbeing of the communities they serve. Our role is to strengthen their capacity to integrate peer-led mental health support into the work they are already doing.

01

NGOs and grassroots organisations working in trauma-affected contexts

02

Schools, youth programmes, and child-serving institutions

03

Clinics and community health programmes

04

Faith-based organisations and community groups

05

Corporates and institutions seeking structured employee wellbeing support

We are still learning what works best in each of these contexts. That learning shapes how we design, deliver, and grow our training, and we are grateful to every partner who helps us see more clearly.
